What determines the cost of a website?
Several practical factors shape the investment: how many distinct page types you need, whether the visual identity already exists, how much content must be developed, and which systems need to work together. A focused five-page business site is a different project from a multi-service platform with property listings, booking, complex forms, and extensive editorial content.
A useful proposal defines deliverables, revision stages, integrations, content responsibilities, launch preparation, and any costs that remain outside the design fee.
Altofold's starting website packages
| Starting point | Starting investment | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | $2,995 | A smaller business that needs a polished, focused online presence. |
| Professional | $6,495 | An established business needing stronger service content and a more developed customer journey. |
| Premium | $9,995+ | A larger or more customized site with complex structure, content, or integrations. |
These are Altofold Studio starting prices, not universal market averages or guaranteed project quotes. Each client receives a written scope and final proposal. You can see the current packages on our Pricing & Packages page.
What should a website proposal include?
Ask whether the price covers strategy and page planning, custom design, responsive development, copywriting or editing, search basics, contact forms, analytics, review rounds, and launch testing. If something is not included, it should be written down before work begins.
Just as importantly, determine who supplies logos, photos, service information, access to the domain, and any required legal or policy copy. A clear division of responsibilities keeps a project moving.
Costs beyond the initial website build
Domain registration, hosting, paid software, booking or listing integrations, subscriptions, and ongoing content updates may be separate expenses. Search optimization is also not a one-time switch: technical setup can be part of a build, while content improvements and reporting often continue after launch.
At Altofold, optional website care currently starts at $249 per month and SEO/content growth at $599 per month, depending on the agreed scope. Neither is automatically bundled into every website package.
How to compare proposals fairly
- Compare like-for-like scope. How many unique pages and design types are included?
- Ask about ownership and access. Who controls the domain, hosting, and finished website?
- Clarify edits. How many revision rounds are included, and how are additional requests priced?
- Discuss launch testing. Will forms, mobile navigation, accessibility basics, and analytics be checked?
- Plan for maintenance. Who will keep information current after launch?
The best investment is one that fits the business, gives both sides clear expectations, and produces a website the team can actually maintain. Tell us about your project and we'll recommend a realistic starting scope.
